Man wounded in shooting

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Police are investigating a shooting. It happened about 9:30 pm, Tuesday, in the 1200-block of West Beardsley.

An officer on patrol heard the gunfire shortly before neighbors called to report shots fired. An 18-year old man arrived at the hospital with multiple gunshots wounds, but is expected to be okay.

The incident is not believed to be a random act of violence. Anyone with exterior home surveillance cameras is asked to contact police if they can provide video footage from Tuesday night.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police who can arrange to speak privately with you. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may also submit tips to Crime Stoppers.

Authorities remind citizens information submitted to Crime Stoppers is completely anonymous.

Calls are routed to a third-party national call center which receives your information, completes a tips information form then passes it to the appropriate law enforcement agency.

Caller ID tracking is not utilized by Crime Stoppers and conversations are not recorded.
