Man sought for attempted abduction/alleged battery

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Investigators are making progress in solving what they believe is an attempted child abduction. They say they located the van believed used in the incident and a man who may have been involved.

Two 12-year olds were riding bikes Saturday, in the 300-block of Glenn Drive, in Unincorporated Urbana. The children say a man in the van pulled the arm of one of them.

51-year old Todd Milner was arrested on an outstanding warrant for an unrelated charge of assault, but has not been charged with any other offenses at this time.

The kids got away from the man and told their parents who called police. Investigators say their cooperation helped with the case.

The say they located the suspected van, but the owner is not involved.

UNINCORPORATED URBANA TOWNSHIP, Ill. (WCIA) — Authorities are investigating an attempted abduction and battery of a juvenile.

Champaign County Sheriff’s Deputies say two 12-year old children were riding bikes near Glenn Drive and East Illinois Street when a man in a white van stopped in the intersection.

The children reported the man got out of the van and began chasing them, grabbing one by the arm. The victim was able to break free and ran to a neighbor’s home.

The man is described as an “older white male,” with long, white/gray hair in a ponytail with a white/gray goatee.

The van is described as a white panel van, typical of a work van. It has tinted windows and slight rust throughout the fender wells. A partial license plate is being released: 156**03.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office immediately and ask to speak with a deputy.
