Man okay after late night house fire

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — A brush fire which spread has forced a man from his home. It happened late Thursday night, in the 100-block of Scottswood Drive.

Officials say he was burning brush near the house when ashes ignited the corner of it.

Damage to the kitchen and roof is estimated at $20,000. No one was hurt. At least five fire departments responded.

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — The fire department is investigating after a house caught fire Thursday evening. It happened on Scottswood Drive.

They responded to the call shortly after 9 pm. The man who lives there says he was burning brush in the backyard, and embers blew into some trash which ignited the side of the house, but crews don’t have an official cause yet.

No one was hurt, but the fire caused $20,000 in damage.
