CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — The name of the driver killed in a crash outside Rantoul has been released.

Coroner Duane Northrup says 58-year old Robert Bross, of Savoy, died at the hospital about 10:40 am, Monday.

Authorities say Bross was on I-57 northbound when he lost control of his pickup, crossed the median and was hit by an oncoming box truck.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — A Savoy man was killed after a two-vehicle crash. It happened about 10:15 am, Monday, on I-57, near Rantoul.

The 58-year old was driving northbound when he lost control of his pick-up truck, crossed the median and was struck by an oncoming, southbound box truck.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and taken to the hospital. The driver of the box truck sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim’s name has not yet been released.
