Man faces federal charges for armed robberies

TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — An Alorton man appeared in federal court Tuesday, on charges of interference with commerce by robbery.

Authorities say 32-year old Algernon Perkins was involved in armed robberies of several cash stores, including one in town, which happened September 19.

The charge carries a maximum term of 20-years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the ATF, US Marshals Service, Taylorville PD and other Southern Illinois police agencies.
