CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Police and U.S. Marshals arrested an area man on charges of aggravated battery and mob action.
26-year old Carlos Draine is accused of being involved in a verbal altercation which escalated into a physical assault. The incident happened about 2 am, Sunday, at Second and Green streets.
When police arrived, they found a 20-year old man suffering serious injuries consistent with a physical assault. The victim was treated at a hospital, but has since been released.
Authorities say video evidence from the area shows Draine physically assaulting the victim as well as battering several other people who were nearby, but uninvolved with the fight.
Police encourage anyone who may have been hurt in the incident to contact them. Anyone additional with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers. Tipsters are always 100% completely anonymous.
