SANGAMON COUNTY — A man is dead after driving into the back of a semi and then get getting hit himself. The accident happened on I-72.
A 53-year old man, from Chatham, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say he failed to reduce speed before hitting the semi.
His name has not yet been released, but authorities say driving conditions were poor due to a dust storm.
63-year old Barbara Pfeffer, of Herrin, is hospitalized with minor injuries. The driver of the semi refused medical treatment.
