Man crashes into wall outside Governor’s Mansion

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — State Police are investigating after an 87 year old man crashed into a brick wall outside of the Governor’s Mansion Friday night.

Police say Nils Thunman was leaving the mansion grounds near the 4th Street Gat when he accidentally hit the gas intead of the brakes. He his the west side wall of the Illinois Executivve Mansion grounds and took out a corner of it. 

Thunman wasn’t hurt or ticketed. The Governor’s Mansion wasn’t damaged.
