URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — A Decatur man faces multiple counts of sexual exploitation of children.
22-year old Cornell Johnson appeared in court Monday. A trial date was set for April 29.
Johnson was arrested February 4 and charged with sexually exploiting children and possessing child pornography.
Authorities say, between December and January, Johnson exploited seven minors getting them to engage in sexually explicit conduct to produce graphic images, then send them to him.
Investigators say Johnson pretended to be a teenage girl and communicated with minors in Alabama, Delaware and Ohio using Facebook to get the minors, ages 4 – 16, to send lewd, graphic images to him.
Facebook detected the pornographic images and generated cybertip reports which were send to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
If convicted, Johnson faces 30-years for each of four counts of sexual exploitatin and 10-years for possession of child pornography. Each count also includes a potential fine of up to $250,000.
