ATWOOD, Ill. (WCIA) — A Tuscola man faces charges of possessing a stolen vehicle and disorderly conduct. 23-year old Kenton Gingerich was arrested by Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies.
Authorities say they learned of the stolen vehicles sometime Thursday while investigating a “suspicious person” in the 200-block of North Kentucky Street.
Because of the proximity to Atwood Grade School, it was put on “soft lockdown,” until it was determined the suspect was no longer in the area.
It was lifted about 30-minutes later when Gingerich and one of the stolen vehicles were located in the Long Creek/Mt. Zion area. Both vehicles were recovered and returned to their owners.
Police remind drivers to lock their cars. Both stolen vehicles were unlocked with keys inside.
