ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Recent census data shows people continue packing and leaving the state.

Illinois Policy Institute says it’s the first time on record all the big metro areas have had population declines.

Champaign-Urbana usually sees some growth in population. Last year, it decreased by 1%.

People also left Decatur, Springfield, Danville, Chicago and Bloomington. Some say there is still a chance for growth in the state.

Peoria had one of the larger population declines dropping by .9%.
