UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS (WCIA) — The Lieutenant Governor paid a visit to her alma mater.

Juliana Stratton spoke to journalism students at the University. She talked about her views on voting rights for inmates as well as funding for higher education.

She also went back to her roots, talking about her days as a journalism student and how it led her to a career in politics.”The idea that I could lift my voice and talk about things that matter to me…and how can we make life better for others. That was as important as the work I did in the classroom around learning how to be a journalist,” said Stratton. She also said when she was in school, she was training to be a news anchor or reporter.
