DECATUR, Ill.(WCIA) — State legislators want to hear how they can make your city better.
They are traveling the state to talk with community leaders–figuring out what to plan for, and how to put it into action. Monday afternoon, two state senators will head to Decatur to hear about constructiong needs. This is all following Pritzker’s plan to rebuild roads, bridges, colleges, and more across the state.
Andy Manar–Chairman of a Senate Appropriations Committee– and Martin Sandoval–Head of the Transportation Committee–will hold the construction hearing. They will meet with city leaders, community organizations, and transportation experts.
From there, they will create a “wish list.” Then they will take that back and tack it onto the ideas list for a statewide capital construction plan.
This comes as IDOT prepares for the start of their construction season. A few of those projects are in Champaign. Monday–a project will start for reconstruction of the Bradley Avenue Bridge over I-57 in Champaign. That should be done in November.
Next month, crews will start resurfacing Bloomington Road from Mattis to Prospect. IDOT says they shoud finish that in June.
