Lawsuit to stop gun club

Local News

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA)– It all started about 2 years ago. The presidents of American Heritage Holdings and Leroy Rifle and Pistol Club came to her door. Dawn Funderberg says they told her they had purchased 40 acres of land and was going to make it a gun club.

She says she was later sued by the Leroy Rifle and Pistol Club for refusing to turn over property she says belonged to her. Now she’s suing the Dewitt County Zoning Board of Appeals, the Leroy Rifle and Pistol Club and American Heritage Holdings. She says she wants the gun clun not to be built near her home.

Funderberg and neighbors say they are concerned about safety, flooding and noise. The Leroy Rifle and Pistol Club said they are committed to following all the rules and expectations of the county board. They look forward to being the best neighbors and having an opportunity to serve the community.
