ILLINOIS (WCIA) — In March, the Livingston County town of Dwight okayed the building of a $20 million ICE detention center, but now legislation in the capitol may block it.
A bill banning private detention facilities passed the House Wednesday.
It would block every local or statewide unit of government from entering into an agreement for the detention of people in a facility owned, managed or operated by a private entity.
The bill now heads to the Senate.
