CHAMPAIGN, ILL. (WCIA) — The Champaign Police Department (CPD) has confirmed there was a fatal shooting at the Nantucket Cove apartment complex.
CPD says in a press release officers responded around 4:45 a.m. Monday to a reported shooting in the 2000 block of Moreland Boulevard.
Police say they found a 36-year-old woman inside a car who had been shot.
The release says she was taken to a hospital but later died from her wounds.
Investigators say the victim was inside the car when she was shot several times by one or more suspects.
Detectives say they are still processing the crime scene and interviewing potential witnesses. Additionally, they say no one has been arrested as of Monday morning.
Anyone in the nearby area with outdoor security camera systems is asked to call the police department. Police say they believe video footage may help their investigation.

Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for these crimes.”
