CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Hundreds of thousands of dollars are going into a local park to make it more accessible.
You may have noticed water draining out of Heritage Lake, off Bradley Avenue. It’s all part of a project which started years ago.
Leaders knew they wanted to put a pathway in around the lake, but they had some improvements they needed to make before it could happen.
Right now, construction has started for the shoreline stabilization. They’re draining part of the lake so construction crews can get to the shoreline safely and regrade it. It will help prevent erosion.
The entire project costs a little more than $643,000. They hope it will be completed by summer.
