URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — It was the perfect combination. Now, this Kid to Know has found a way to put her heart and language skills to work.
Sophia Torrellas is the kind of kid who has to be making her parents so very proud. She volunteered once at the Wesley Church Food Pantry over the summer and has returned every week since then.
The 13-year old brings clients around to shop for what they want. But, even more impressive, Torrellas can speak Spanish and French. She translates for teh clients who don’t speak English. She says it puts them more at ease and keeps her coming back.
Torrellas and two friends held a fundraiser to make money for the pantry raising more than $300.
