URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — The Kickapoo Rail Trail will be opening later than expected.
Rain and bad weather are the main causes for the delays. The Champaign County Forest Preserve says the almost seven mile section between Urbana and St. Joseph still has a lot of work to be done.
They need to finish paving, put up signs and plant grass. If weather permits, the new target opening date is scheduled for late August instead of next month, but they’re reminding people to stay off the trail until then.
