LEE COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — The teen accused of opening fire at Dixon High School Wednesday, has been released from the hospital and taken to jail where he’s awaiting arraignment.

Matthew Milby, 19, is scheduled to appear in court Friday.

Authorities say they learned the 9 mm, semi-automatic rifle Milby is reported to have used during a shooting at his former high school was purchased by his mother in 2012.

Investigators have not determined how he came to have possession of the weapon.

Video surveillance from inside the school has been recovered and is being reviewed by law enforcement. No outside video has been located.

Milby was wounded when the school resource officer returned fire after Milby shot at him while he was running from the school.
