Indiana to start rare disease screenings

Local News

INDIANA (WCIA) — Screening for a rare disease will now be standard procedure in our neighboring state.

Bryce Clausen has Krabbe disease. His father, Joel, is originally from Chrisman, but Bryce was born in Indiana, a state which doesn’t screen for the neurological illness. Monday, that changed.

Indiana’s governor signed the bill. Now, all newborns will be screened during their first days of life. Illinois already screens for the disease.
