CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — A nearly $2.5 million loan from the Illinois Housing Development Authority will help finance the permanent supportive housing development Pinewood Place.

It’s to be developed in the 1600-block of East Colorado, Urbana. The facility will include 24 one-bedroom units in four separate buildings for those with special needs.

Preference will be given to those with mental, developmental or physical disabilities, who have no income and are pending approval of Social Security benefits.

No word when construction will start or when the project could be completed.

The $2,484,090 loan to the Housing Authority of Champaign County will help it continue its mission of providing housing assistance to the residents of Champaign County which started in 1943.
