CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) are giving two grants to the Housing Authority of Champaign County (HACC).

Leaders say the money will allow the organization to house more people and further enhance the lives of those who are most vulnerable.

HACC will get nearly 30 housing vouchers, worth about $191,321, from HUD, in support of non-elderly people with disabilities and their families.

The grant from IHDA, worth about $2.5 million, will help those with an illness or limitation live as independently as possible according to their personal needs and preferences.
