DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A house has been declared a total loss after a fire Wednesday morning. It happened in the 700-block of Edith Street.

The cause is under investigation. No one was hurt, but a dog inside died. Officials say they got the call about 6:30 am, Wednesday, and within 15 minutes of arriving, they had the flames under control.

The original caller said someone was in the home, but she got out through a window. The home is close to another. The fire chief says after making sure no one was inside, the worked to keep it from spreading.

The state fire marshal was called in to help determine the cause.
