ILLINOIS (WCIA) — It’s one of the most successful bands with roots in Central Illinois and it was just voted Top Musicians from the state. REO Speedwagon snagged the title.
The band is the latest champion of the Bicentennial Illinois Top 200 Project. The band formed in Champaign in 1967. A former record store owner says he remembers when REO played at campus bars.
REO wasn’t the only band from the area to snag a top spot on the list. Allison Krauss was voted Second Best Musician from Illinois.
