UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Ten winners will walk away with $10,000 in resources to create prototypes for their ideas improving healthcare.
The public is invited to a “dolphin tank-style” event next Saturday to help pick the winners from 20 finalists after hearing two-minute pitches from the competitors.
140 ideas were submitted from people ages 8 – 86 for the Carle Illinois College of Medicine Health Make-a-Thon. Health Maker Lab is a network of maker labs, design spaces and fabrication facilities on the UI campus.
The competition started in March when those who were interested were posed the following questions:
- What is the health-related problem you are trying to solve?
- How do you propose to solve it?
- How will your solution improve the well-being of society?
