CHARLESTON, Ill. (WCIA) — Three men were taken into police custody after drugs and a weapon were found in their vehicle.
Gage Berning, 19, Justin Landreth, 22, and Christopher Senn, 22, all of Salem, were stopped about 2 pm, Thursday, at 4th Street and Harrison Avenue by CPD and the East Central Illinois Drug Task Force.
Authorities say officers saw evidence of drugs in plain view which led them to ask the men to step out of the vehicle.
A search resulted in the seizure of a .22 caliber handgun and more than 8-grams of suspected methamphetamine. The serial number on the handgun was defaced.
The investigation is ongoing and more charges could be filed. The 2001 Ford, driven by Berning, was seized pending a vehicle seizure hearing.
