MACON COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — An 18-year old pleaded guilty in the shooting death of a 2-year old.
Zachary Pherigo was charged with killing his nephew in October.
Pherigo told police they were playing “cops and robbers” when he grabbed the gun, took the toddler to the ground, pointed the gun at him and fired a shot. He says he didn’t know the gun was loaded.
In court Thursday, he pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter. He’s scheduled to be sentenced in June.
