Friday Night Live with a twist

Local News

CHAMPAIGN,Ill (WCIA)- -As summer approaches downtown Champaign is getting busier.

Especially as Friday Night Live kicks off.

New this year, you’ll be able to walk around with a drink in hand.

People can get a drink and walk from one spot to another with it.

But you have to stay within certain boundaries and in approved cups. There’s also a new live music spot.

That’s between pour brothers and seven saints on market street.

Organizers say the new drinking rules is what they’re looking forward to most.

“I’m actually really excited to see the new open carry permit that’s happening in the festival district because I think a lot of people like to go visit all the locations and see as many bands as possible so that way you can get a nice cold drink and walk around and see all the different bands,” Kelly White says.

It’s a kid-friendly event too with activities for the little ones.

This is just the first of the 13-week series.
