IROQUOIS COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Michelle Fancher will be arraigned Wednesday, at 9:30 am.

The former Gilman City clerk was accused of embezzling money from the city while she served. The money was mostly taken from residents’ water, sewage and garbage fees.

She allegedly marked them off as paid, then pocketed the money. The amount she’s accused of stealing is more than $40,000.

She turned herself into the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Office, in January.
