Former AAU coach sentenced for sex abuse

Local News

COLES COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — A former AAU basketball coach will spend 60 years in prison.

In June, Barry Wolfe, 53, pleaded guilty to four counts of criminal sexual assault. He admitted having sexual contact with teenage girls who were players on the Central Illinois Storm team.

Victims made impact statements in court Friday before the judge sentenced Wolfe.

At least four females told police Wolfe forced them to perform oral sex on him, had them strip naked and touched them inappropriately. They said he told them, if they wanted to play basketball in college, they had to trust him.

Wolfe was only tried for crimes against two athletes.
