CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Two groups are partnering to help eliminate waste in food banks and pantries.
Tuesday, the University of Illinois Extension Snap-Ed program and the Decatur Salvation Army are hosting a training program to reduce pantry food waste.
Training focuses on improving food storage methods, lengthening shelf-life and increasing options for clients.
The program is open to any Central Illinois food pantry staff. It’s from 10 am – Noon, in the community room of Decatur’s Salvation Army.
