CHARLESTON, Ill. (WCIA) — Crews responded to the 1000-block of Elm Street, about 3:45 am, Tuesday, for a structure fire.
When they arrived, heavy smoke was seen. A second alarm was issued to bring more equipment and personnel to the scene.
The resident was home when the fire broke out but escaped uninjured.
The fire started somewhere in the kitchen or bathroom area.
Officials say a cause can’t be determined because the structure is a complete loss. No one was hurt.
First responders from five departments were on scene about six hours.
