Fire ambulance services ending

Local News

MATTOON, Ill. (WCIA) — Fire ambulance services are ending. Fire Chief Anthony Nichols announced July 24 will be the last day of service for the ambulances.

Last year, the city wanted to get rid of the department’s ambulances because they can’t afford them.

City officials have come up with a new ordinance to set standards for the other four ambulances in town  run by private companies. Nichols expects the ordinance to pass at the next council meeting.
