URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — The State Treasurer is reuniting people in Champaign County with their unclaimed property.
Staff from the Treasurer’s Office will be at the Urbana Free Library Thursday from 4-6 p.m. They will be there to help people navigate the I-Cash program, where they can see if they have any unclaimed property. This could include lost bank accounts, forgotten safety deposit boxes, and other funds.
Items are surrendered after private entities try to return them for at least five years. Since property is regularly turned over to the Treasurer’s Office, they recommend checking the database every six months.
