Felony charges for accused hit-&-run driver

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — A local man faces two felony counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving a death.

50-year old Clifford Dougherty, of the 1300-block of West Calhoun, was arrested and is being held on $300,000 bond.

Authorities say the accident happened about 3:30 am, Friday, July 20, at Walnut and Canedy.

A woman, who was walking, had been hit by a vehicle which had fled the scene. The 52-year old victim was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries. Her name has not yet been released.
