PENFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — Thursday was the first day of the 43rd Historic Farm Days hosted by the I & I Antique Tractor and Gas Engine Club.
Already hundreds of tractors have gathered in the small town, and expectations are for thousands of people to show up for the fair. Organizers are adamant that every part of the fair is meant to make visitors nostalgic about farm life.
“I grew up on a farm. And you know, so many people years ago grew up on farms,” said club president Chuck Stetler. “But we’re getting further away every generation from people being on the farms. These just give them a way to come and see the way things used to be in the old days and reminisce.”
This year, the club says the event will have tractor pulls, tractor games and even live music. The tractor theme this year is the International Harvester. Farm Days will be giving one away as part of their weekend raffle.
