SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — Hundreds of police officers from around the state gathered Thursday to honor their fallen. Four police officers, all from Chicago, died in the line of duty in 2018.
The officers’ names will be inscribed on the Illinois Peace Officer Memorial Sculpture outside the Capitol. Rain moved the ceremony to the State Library. It was followed by a procession of police cars.
A church service was held at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Springfield.
