ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Officials say fake marijuana is still causing medical issues across the state.
Fake pot, also called spice or K2 has been causing news cases of severe bleeding, mainly focused in Winnebago County.
More than 160 people in Illinois across 15 counties have experienced this severe bleeding due to using synthetic cannabinoids.
The Illinois Department of Public Health Director Doctor Nirav Shah says officials are not sure if this is a new batch of K-2 or the same that began causing these issues back in March.
Cases that have been tested were found to be positive for a chemical found in rat poison.
