URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — Earth Day is coming up and people in the area are celebrating early.
The Anita Purves Nature Center and others hosted the fifth Earth Care Expo Saturday.
Kids and parents got to do a lot of activities like building bee houses for wild bees, playing a matching game with vegetables and plants and learning how to compost.
Event organizers say they want to make sure people know how important taking care of the Earth is.
“We share this planet as our home and we want our children to be able to share it too and in order for that to happen, we have to take care of it. So, sharing the hope for that and the enthusiasm for that is a great way to celebrate Earth Day,” Cindy Shepherd says.
Along with all the other activities, there was a rain simulator to show how different materials absorb the rain. Earth Day is Monday.
