Drug charges after traffic stop

COLES COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Two people from Milwaukee, Wisc., are in custody and face drug charges after a traffic stop.

About 2 am, Friday, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on I-57 for a vehicle traveling 93 mph in a 70 mph zone.

The passenger, 52-year old William Jones, was found to have an active warrant in Shelby County.

After a K-9 was brought to the scene and alerted to narcotics in the vehicle, a search led to the discovery of about 4 grams of crack cocaine.

Jones and 59-year old Twana Burris face charges for possession of a controlled substance and obstructing justice.
