URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — Fix-It Tickets have saved some area drivers hundreds of dollars total.
Police started the program a month ago. If a driver is pulled over for a broken tail- or headlight, police can give a voucher for up to $25 to have the part fixed. The voucher expires in 60 days.
So far, 73 vouchers were issued; 52 have been redeemed; drivers have saved almost $420 in repairs.
Mayor Diane Marlin says the program will continue until funding runs out.
