UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS (WCIA) — A UI student was warned, then arrested. Authorities say 21-year old Charles Edge was pulled over for using a cellphone while driving.

He was given a warning by the officer, but police say Edge then left the area at a high rate of speed, fled from the scene after being stopped the second time and hit an officer with his car when he drove away.

Edge is accused of aggravated battery to a police officer, aggravated fleeing from police, driving under the influence of drugs, operating an uninsured vehicle, speeding in excess of 35 mph over the limit, disobeying a traffic control signal and disobeying a stop sign.
