CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Dr. Howard Elementary School is just about to close up shop for good.
When classes end this week, the 108-year old building will officially close its doors.
With that said, there’s a celebration at 5:30 pm, Thursday to honor the building’s history and get ready to toast the construction of the new facility.
Work starts this summer. Students will move to the Columbia Center for the next two years.
The new Dr. Howard is expected to open in the fall of 2020.
