CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — School officials are working on a long-term solution for mold.

Last week, white mold was found in a handful of classrooms at Franklin STEAM Academy and Jefferson Middle School.

District leaders say they cleaned the affected areas thoroughly using a disinfectant and dried the areas.

They say the mold is caused by humidity so they’ve placed dehumidifiers in affected classrooms.
