CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — A business owner might be in luck. The city council approved a $300,000 grant for $1.6 million renovations.

They’ll take place at the Avenue and Bush Brothers building near Water Street. The architect should be submitting designs this week. The city council approved the study session in June.

The new owner says he plans to put in a bar and restaurant in the Avenue building and a brewery and distillery in the Busch building.

Business owners in the area say they’re excited for increased traffic. To allow this to happen, the city council approved closing Water Street. The owner says he plans to put an outdoor patio in the area.
