CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — The sheriff’s office is preparing its officers for active shooter situations.
Trauma kits were recently put together for squad cars. They include multiple tourniquets, chest seals, quick clots and tape.
The main purpose is to have supplies in the field for rapid response situations, like an active shooting.
Five tourniquets are in each kits, so when multiple squads show up, they’re prepared for mass casualty situations.
More than 50 squad cars have the kits. Deputies will also have annual training for the equipment.
