Damaged door cracks into scholarship fund

Local News

NEOGA, Ill. (WCIA) — After part of the American Legion was damaged, many are searching for answers about what happened.

People with the American Legion Post found their door cracked earlier this week, but this issue affects more than just them.

The money they use for scholarships may have to go towards fixing it.

The Neoga Police Chief says they don’t have any suspects who may have caused the damage at this time.

The door was damaged some time after 10:30 Sunday night, but no one got inside the legion.

To fix it, the American Legion will have to use its $500, which is money that would go to the annual scholarship fund.

Every year the scholarship goes to two students, a boy and girl and their school picks them.

Seeing the damage, came to a shock to many visiting the Legion.

If anyone is convicted for causing this damage, the Legion Post is offering a reward for information leading to that arrest.
