DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Danville Area Community College is revamping its apprenticeship program. It started the overhaul in January.

The goal was to get in line with national trade schools, but at a lower cost for area students. Part of the new program is getting students without welding experience into businesses which can train them.

A welding instructor says the program is a win-win for students and business owners. Tuesday’s meeting is for any businesses interested in hiring apprentices. Classes start August 20.
