URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — St. Nicholas Orthodox Church won’t be so crowded anymore. It’s a good thing.
Monday night, the city council approved zoning changes to expand the facility, located at Elm and Birch.
Leaders say the building overflows with people on Sunday mornings. It’s why they want to expand by more than 3,000 square feet.
The church was also approved to build higher. The changes will also allow the church to be more accessible for those who are physically disabled.
